Committee : Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

The Committee's areas of responsibility relate to environmental policy and environment protection measures, in particular concerning air, water and soil pollution, management and recycling of waste, hazardous substances and chemicals, noise levels, climate change, biodiversity protection and others.

In the field of public health, the Committee is responsible for pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, health aspects of bioterrorism, the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
The Committee's specific duties in the area of food safety relate to food labeling and food safety, veterinary legislation concerning protection against risks to human health, as well as the European Food Safety Authority and the European Food and Veterinary Office.
