European Commission: the confirmed integrity of Mrs. Jeleva calls for immediate and public apologies. Joseph Daul MEP, Chairman of the EPP Group

"The confirmation by the Commission of the total absence of any defect in respect of the Bulgarian Commissioner-designate calls for the immediate and public apology from those who have unjustly maligned her," said Joseph Daul, Chairman of the EPP Group. "I am waiting to see these apologies".

The Chairman of the Europe ’s main political force is not surprised at the establishment of the total honesty of Rumiana Jeleva. He had, since the beginning of the shameful political and media campaign launched against her, expressed his full confidence in Mrs. Jeleva.

"Contrary to some political families, the EPP does not practice the politics of scandal and unfounded accusations", said Daul. "It is a sense of responsibility that guides us in the conduct of the Hearings of Commissioners-designate, and that guides in all our political work. This is certainly the reason why people trust us more than others in Europe," declared Joseph Daul.

"Today I am asking people to judge for themselves. Who are we to believe? Those that make baseless accusations without scruple against politicians, or those who, like the EPP, are trying to establish a Commission, as strong and motivated as possible, to carry out our common aims?"

Joseph Daul hoped that the Hearings of the Commissioners will continue in an atmosphere of seriousness and serenity. He will not accept any fresh attempt to delay the process of the establishment of the Commission by so-called new Hearings or by any other procedural device.
