Copy of ELMAR BROK APPOINTED MEMBER OF EU REFORM TREATY CONFERENCE

The EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament has appointed Elmar Brok MEP as its member for the intergovernmental conference which will work out the details of the EU reform treaty.

"Elmar Brok has played a key role in the development of European basic treaties and we are confident that he will be able to ensure that the IGC completes its task to the benefit of all Europeans", declared EPP-ED Group Chairman Joseph Daul MEP. As a former member of the European convention, Elmar Brok has years of experience with the Constitutional treaty and the question of EU reform".

Elmar Brok is a member of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and represented the European Parliament in the Convention which drafted the Constitutional treaty. The European Parliament is expected to send three Members to the intergovernmental conference, to help draft the new reform treaty which EU heads of government agreed on at the European Council on June 22 and 23.
