SUSETTE SCHUSTER AND KLAUS JANSEN – THE FULL REPORTS FROM THE PEER-REVIEW
Portal EUROPE offers to the attention of its readers the full texts of the original reports made within the February peer-review – in English and in Bulgarian – by the European Commission experts Susette Schuster and Klaus Jansen. The reason for us to do so is the considerable media interest created today and yesterday around these reports.
The reports have been composed in February as part of the European Commission’s peer-review.
Portal EUROPE wishes to emphasize on the fact that we were the first media to having had published these alarming reports. In March, when we did so, the civil impact was not long lasting and not as active as today’s.
Today we observe that the same discussion is revived, as a result of the fact that abroad – through The Financial Times – the same conclusions of Mrs. Schuster and Mr. Jansen were repeated.
Portal EUROPE would also wish to remind that the biggest part of these alarming conclusions, made by the foreign EC-experts, have been raised on numerous occasions before. The Bulgarian experts’ community and the civil sector have been repeating these warnings long ago, but the degree of public impact was too weak, insignificant.
To be sure, this is not a flattery for the Bulgarian authorities, in the responsibility of which falls the task to fulfill the EU-membership requirements in order to achieve a timely accession.
It is, however, s flattery for the Bulgarian experts’ community, because its conclusions about the problems in the Bulgarian judiciary and home affairs are being reconfirmed.
