Project "Religious Monuments of Dobrudzha: Identification and Legitimatizing" BG2005/017-455.01.03.01.11

The Project is directed to creating conditions for an open society through cross-border collaboration, for inter-ethnical and inter-religious dialogue between the citizens  of The North and South Dobroudja and The South-East Europe in the sphere of protection and knowledge of the spiritual and cultural-historical heritage.            

In North and South Doboudja the specialists have registered, explored and on some places – exhibit hundreds of cult monuments from the early antiquity up to The Revival. A big part of them are unknown for the general public and are unmarked.

The main objective of The Project is to take them out of anonymity and to transform them into a basis for cultural and religious tourism, for the needs of the education and satisfying the informative and the religious needs of the population in the region.  

Sub-objectives:            

1. Presenting the monuments through working out advertising materials for the needs of the tour operators, the tourist exchanges in the region.          
2. Broad information rendered to the local population in the region, in order a good attitude to be created for protection our common cultural monuments.         
3. Creating conditions for cross-border contacts between the believers in North and South Dobroudja, as well as of that part of the society that is interested in archeology and the history of the region.             

The team on The Project reckons that the realization of the activity has led to achieving the preliminary targets and expected results:

• Creating a whole bank of information about the religious monuments  on Bulgarian and Romanian territory in North and South Dobroudja.
• Developing tourist routs on cult places, marking the same with directing signboard according to the norms of EC.
• Working out an album – itinerary, folders and CD, advertising the religious monuments in North and South Dobroudja.

We are sure that the successful finalization of The Project gives chance for strengthening the already established contacts; enlarging the information rendered to the citizens in the sphere of the culture; for a general advertisement and redirecting the specific tourist streams; forming an adequate horizon of expectations connected with membership in The European Union.
