The 2008 Summer Institute on Urban Development

Management of urban change - measuring & performing is the key topic of the forthcoming event.

The International Urban Development Association INTA http://www.inta-aivn.org  offers City professionals (both decision makers and city managers) the opportunity to improve their practical knowledge and competence in the development, implementation and monitoring of urban development.

The 2008 Summer Institute takes place in Massa Lubrense, Sorrento, Italy, from 15 to 21 September, and focuses on  management of urban changes - measuring & performing.

It brings an added value as most of the working sessions include applied training on different methodologies of measuring and evaluating urban development performance.

The Summer Institute is for City managers and decision makers. It is designed to bring immediate benefit to the professional work of the participants. The mix of theory and practical exercises gives an operational sense to the learning and understanding of urban development process. The Summer Institute allows people to get the most out of the training programme depending on their level of experience.

The Institute’s programme will address:

• City systems and complexity

• Designing models (model cities)

• Space syntax

• Policy Networks,

• Policy Communities and the urban Governance

• Planning support systems

• Geospatial simulation

• Carrying capacity assessment

• City communication as a public service

Courses will be held in English; interpretation in another language can be provided on request as long as there is a sufficient demand.

Candidates must apply by 25th July. Due to capacity limit of the premises, only 50 applicants will be admitted to the Course.

More information and registration form are available at INTA.
