Forthcoming common EU energy policy conference
On the occasion of the European Parliament voting on "the third energy package" which will be held during the July plenary session in Strassbourg, the EP Information Office in Sofia organizes a conference on the European energy policy under the heading "Towards common European energy policy".
The event will take place at 9.30 a.m on 4 July 2008. in Serdika Hall of Sheraton Hotel - Sofia. The working language will be Bulgarian.
The event will be broadcasted live on the Internet at the specialized multilanguage website http://parliament.europe.bg. The online audience from different countries will be able to take part in the discussions by asking questions to the participants. Questions may be sent also in advance at the following electronic address info@europe.bg. Full video coverage will be available on the page after the conclusion of the event.

After its accession to the EU, Bulgaria has quickly turned into an important energy crossroad of United Europe. The main subjects of the discussions will be the challenges related to climate change, increasing dependence on energy import and the competitiveness at world level requiring the establishment of open and fair internal European energy market.
MEPs, among them - Atanas Paparizov, EP rapporteur on the proposal for a Regulation on conditions for access to natural gas transmission networks, representatives of the Energy Committee at the Bulgarian National Assembly, the Ministry of Economy and Energy, energy regulation state authorities, energy business, NGOs and academic circles, are invited to take part in the conference.
