18 October - EU Anti-Trafficking Day

A year ago the European Commission declared 18 October as the "EU Anti-Trafficking Day". In this connection the adoption of Written Declaration №50 on combating the trafficking of children is an important political signal by the Parliament that this phenomenon requires our attention. МЕРs Marusya Lyubcheva and Zita Gurmai use the opportunity to thank the member of the European Commission Jacquet Barrot for supporting the declaration.

"In that respect we appeal to you to consider the organisation of special campaigns in your constituencies on the issue of human trafficking and to distribute this message or other relevant information materials among local nongovernmental
organizations and schools to rise awareness to the problem. You could also contact governments to provoke measures for limitation of the trafficking phenomenon".
