BULGARIA WILL BE THE LAST TO SET A DATE FOR EP ELECTIONS
Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Hungary were the last countries which had not defined the exact dates for the ballot. The elections will take place between June 4th and June 7th in all EU countries.
Yesterday Poland and Romania scheduled the ballot for June 7th, followed by Hungary where the elections will also be held on the last possible date.
Thus on March 27th, the only country that has not set a date is Bulgaria. The National Assembly decided on Wednesday that the second reading of the Election of National Representatives Act would take part next week.
Adopting the Act will help for the clarification of details, regarding the ways in which Bulgarian citizens living in other EU member states can take part in the elections. Bulgarian citizens who live abroad would be able to choose whether to vote for the candidates in the country they reside in or for Bulgarian candidates.
Each member state chooses the exact date for the elections on national level. The results from the ballot can not be announced earlier than the evening of June, 7th.
EUROPE Gateway presented a special explanatory article about the vote for the European Parliament in June in all member states, containing all the dates in the calendar of EU elections as well as the deadlines for the registration of nationals of EU member states for voting in their country of residence.
