Denmark opens its Labour Market to Bulgaria and Romania
The European Commission welcomed the decisions of Belgium and Denmark to open their labour markets to the newest member states.
The governments of both countries decided to open their labour markets for workers from the eight EU member states from Central and Eastern Europe in the third and final stage of the transition period, starting on May 1, 2009, BNR reported, citing EU commissioner Spidla.
Labour market in Denmark will be open to workers from Bulgaria and Romania.
Five years after the enlargement in 2004 Germany and Austria are the only ones that still require that the workers from the eight new member states from Eastern Europe apply for permits before they can start work there.
